How is it performed ?
Labiaplasty lasts about an hour.
Two techniques exist :
- The triangular technique:
It consists in removing a triangle on the posterior half of the lip when the excess is localized on a precise area. The appearance of the folds of the lip is preserved and the scar is concealed at the junction of the large lip and the small lip. The advantages are to have the same color of the small lip once sutured, the same thickness along its entire length and a preservation of the natural folds of the lip. The disadvantage is that it can leave in place a hyperpigmented part of the labia minora (sometimes considered unsightly by patients) and can not correct a clitoral cap that is too voluminous. In addition, the healing process is often longer. - The longitudinal technique:
It consists of cutting all the excess of the labia minora lengthwise, then suturing the edges of the lips with absorbable thread. This technique makes it possible to remove a large amount of excess lip. Healing is then simpler but the result is sometimes less natural.
Aftercare and recovery

Wearing cotton underwear is recommended.
