Sex reassignment in Morocco

How is it performed ?

There are two types of sex change in Morocco :
Male to female sex reassignment surgery and female to male sex reassignment surgery in Morocco. Both of them require complete medical check ups and several examinations.

Male to female sex reassignment surgery :

This technique includes different stages and operations realized depending on each patient :

  • Orchiectomy : It consists of the removal of testicles
In the case that this surgery is performed before the vaginoplasty, it will not compromise the results of the latter. However, a skin graft may be necessary to create the vaginal cavity since the scrotal skin may shrink after the orchiectomy. If you are planning to have a vaginoplasty, it is therefore recommended that you stretch the scrotal skin to prevent it from shrinking.
  • Penectomy : It is the total removal of the penis.
If the patient wants to have a vagina, a tissue of the penis will be used during vaginoplasty surgery.
  • Vaginoplasty : it is a surgical intervention thant consists of constructing a vagina and a clitoris from the male sexual organs.
  • Voice change surgery
  • Breast enhancement
  • Hormone therapy
  • Laser hair removal…

Female to male sex reassignment surgery :

It also requires several examinations and assistance by health professionals, the patient must also receive testosterone replacement therapy, it includes several interventions :

  • Mastectomy : the removal of breasts.
  • The removal of ovaries, uterus and fallopian tubes.
  • Phalloplasty : This intervention aims at constructing the penis.
  • Metodioplasty : it is one of the most common surgeries for a transition from female to male, a surgical procedure to create a neophallus or a new penis. The skin around the clitoris is removed and freed from the pubis to give the appearance of more length. The glans will appear circumcised in most patients.
During this intervention, the vagina will be removed.

*After female to male sex reassignment surgery :
The patient must rest during one to two months.
He must also have regular check ups with the surgeon, mental health professionals, urologist, gynaecologist, psychiatrist…
Following the instructions of the surgeon is very important and necessary.
